Welcome! My name is Renee Sorrell and I am the school counselor at Madeley Ranch Elementary. I received my bachelors degree in biological sciences from Louisiana State University and my master's degree in counseling from Sam Houston State University. I have experience working with children and adolescents in inpidual counseling and group counseling in the clinical and educational settings. In addition, I worked in the classroom as a teacher for five years before pursuing my counseling degree.
Our counseling program at Madeley Ranch is called "Mustang Ed", which stands for "Mustang Emotional development". My main goals for Mustang Ed include meeting the needs of every student and allowing them to feel that they have someone they can talk to about their problems and challenges. I also want each student to feel safe, accepted, and loved so they can be successful in the classroom. To accomplish these goals, I employ a number of perse techniques and interventions. I feel that if Mustang Ed is a dynamic, innovative, and research based program, student growth and development will be fostered.
If you ever have questions or concerns regarding your student or our counseling program, please feel free to contact me.
