About Mrs. Plunk
My name is Laurel Plunk, and I'm teaching third grade this year. This is my 19th year teaching, and my eighth year at MISD. I have LOVED every minute of it!!
I grew up in a small, east Texas town called Cushing, population 581. I attended and graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 2004, with a degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in early childhood. I recently completed my master's degree in Education with a concentration in Teacher Leadership.
After graduation, I taught in a quaint, southwest town for 4 years called Brackettville. While in Brackettville, my husband and I adopted our first two children, Skyler and Isaac. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Brackett, but we wanted to get closer to our family.
In 2008, we moved to Livingston, Texas. While in Livingston, I taught first grade and we adopted our other two children, Collin and Haley. We are very blessed to have met some of our life long friends in Livingston.
In 2015, my husband's job moved us to the Conroe area. We have been here seven years, and we could not be happier raising our children in BEAR/LION COUNTRY! We stay pretty active with all of our extra-curricular activities.
About Our MARVELOUS Classroom!
Our day starts out together with Morning Meeting. During this time, we come together and discuss a themed question, good and bad news, celebrations, and self-refection.
Then, we go into our instructional time. During this time, students are working in whole or small group instruction. They are focusing on grade-level standards using strategies and techniques taught to them during class time.
While not in the classroom, the students are able to participate in various classes such as art, music, physical education, and are daily.
